I have been an avid student of core methodolgy since early childhood. Growing up I was actively involved in figure skating, dance, and gymnastics. I began studying Pilates in East Greenwich, Rhode Island in 1994, and by 1998, I went to New York to become a trained certified instructor in the Authentic Method of Pilates. I was a pupil of the "intensive" program at The Pilates Studio, at that time taught by Bob Leikens, who is now co-director of Power Pilates Inc. My apprenticeship and training was done under the watchful eyes of Romana Kryzanowska (protege of Joseph Hubertus Pilates) and her daughter Sari Pace, at Drago's and 2121 Broadway. I ultimately earned my certification in 1999. It was a wonderful time in my life and a fabulous learning experience. Since then I have completed continuing education courses with Romana and Sari. In 2002, I decided to enter into the Gyrotonic Certification Program in Boston, Massachussetts. During all this, in 2000, I opened my own studio called Body Architecture in Barrington, Rhode Island. The studio specialized in Pilates, Gyrotonic, Yoga, and weight training, and still does to this day. Recently in 2004, I decided to relocate to La Jolla, California, and to start combining all my certifications and trainings to really specify and teach each client precisely what is needed from each method...to totally integrate and implement a system that brings balance, strength, stretch, and flexibility to the body.
